Green Design Furniture Co. is one of the few remaining artisan furniture manufacturers that produces the work of a contemporary designer. Founded in 1993 by inventor and designer Douglas Green, we are located in Portland, Maine’s historic Old Port district. Building on a tradition that began with the Arts and Crafts movement, our woodworkers combine a reverence for handwork with the progressive use of modern thinking, tools, and technology.

Each solid cherry piece is made with our exclusive, patented system of construction and passionately worked by the hands of our talented craftspeople. Because we take such care, Green Design Furniture produces fewer than 1,000 pieces of furniture each year. Continuing our tradition, the first 100 pieces of a new design are numbered and signed by Douglas Green and the craftsman. Many first-time buyers, impressed by the quality of our designs and our exceptional service, have become devoted collectors.
