Zoppas Industries PTC Heating Elements are made of proprietary ceramic stones. These stones have unique characteristics as semiconductors.

When voltage is placed across the PTC, the resistance will initially drop, allowing more current, thus allowing a rapid heat up. However, once the heater starts to rise in temperature, our ceramic element exhibits a truly energy conserving feature. It reaches the point where the heat generated by the part is sufficient to make up for the loss of heat to the ambient. In this situation, the heater is in equilibrium.

Zoppas Industries uses this technology in a variety of heating products for our industrial & commercial applications, namely the refrigeration defrost and condensate evaporation sectors. Once the evaporation coil is defrosted Zoppas Industries offers PTC cartridge solutions to evaporate the condensate.

Zoppas PTC cartridge heaters act as both the thermostat and the level sensor. Once the element has evaporated the condensate, the element senses the increased sheath temperature and increases its ohm values to offer up to a 90% reduction in the power consumption.
