On a cold February evening, four friends gathered. Two were architects, one was a software engineer; the other a business consultant. As they warmed themselves over a fire pit under the North Carolina dark sky, a discussion ensued about why it was so difficult to find quality "green" construction materials. It was 2008.
Working as a project manager, one of the architects spent most of her time researching building products for spec documents. It was time consuming. She had been searching for a specific roofing product without success. She expressed frustration at how inefficient her hunt for green materials seemed to be.
That's when she brought out a treasured guidebook her father gave her years ago. She had used it to travel in Turkey. “You can locate the most amazing, out of the way places with this”, she said. She found the reference to be a good-looking and easy resource for boutique hotels. "Why can't finding green building materials be just as easy", she lamented. She didn't know at the time that it was the beginning of a major breakthrough in the Green building industry.
What resulted was an efficient and enticing research vehicle for innovative building products for everyone interested in building green. A month later, Green Thinker Network was born. Today, the architect works alongside the software engineer and business consultant and Team GTN to grow, cultivate, and promote Green building to everyone from architects to homebuilders.

At Green Thinker Network, our sole purpose is to promote a greener tomorrow. We do not buy or sell the products we represent. Our aim is working towards 0 carbon emission. Our ultimate goal is making sure that more architects, designers, and contractors as well as consumers get to know about your green products.
All products must have documentation demonstrating how they are green, including at least one or more of the following areas:

Sustainability 2013, our annual North American product competition, is coming soon!. Products we promote in our network may be entered in the event each year.
The polls are open to the public. Participants may vote once a day per category for the duration of the competition. Last year there were over 277,000 voters.
